A Ban on Scissors

Every parent goes through it at some point. The moment when you realize that your child has cut more than just paper with some scissors. Unfortunately for us, this happens more often than I would like.

A few years ago, there was the ever so fun time when Ryan cut all of Lindsay's hair off. She sported a nice pixie cut for a year or so until it grew back. Logan joined in the fun a few years later, giving himself a bald patch. A couple of months ago, he did it again. Not long after that, Hannah gave herself her first big haircut. She cut off a bunch of hair on her right side, giving her a half-mullet. It still hasn't grown back in yet. The piece de resistance was the other day. Hannah decided the half-mullet was not enough. She figured she didn't need bangs either.

Yep. All her bangs? Gone. As in, most are maybe a centimeter long, at best. Some don't even have a millimeter.

The hubby was the one home when this one happened, and he proceeded to confiscate every pair of scissors in the house, and then send me a distraught text message.

There is a silver lining to this latest one though. Unlike the half-mullet, this one actually doesn't look so bad. A cleverly placed headband may even give the illusion that it's not there. I'm really trying to look on the bright side.

If only she could have waited until after I had taken the Christmas card picture. Sigh.

Yikes! My sister lived her whole life with no bangs...they'd grow, she'd cut them!

I think we're just going to have to not have scissors at all in the house until Hannah is, I dunno, 18? It's going to make wrapping Christmas presents interesting.
