Stealing an Idea

Aimee over at Greeblemonkey did a movie review this weekend. I was about to post a comment on her blog when I realized, "hey, I could just do my own!" And so here it is. I'll even steal her movie rating system, because I am wicked cool that way.

1 star = hated it
2 stars = didn't like it
3 stars = liked it
4 stars = really liked it
5 stars = loved it

(there, I did a different divider to make myself feel a little better)

The Holiday 2 Stars
Totally agree with Aimee on this one. When I saw the cast, I was all excited. Then promptly got. . .bored. Jack Black and Kate Winslet were totally unbelievable as a couple. Maybe with someone other than him, this movie could have been salvaged. Didn't mind having to watch Jude Law though.

The Pursuit of Happyness 5 stars
Loved this. In so many ways. Will Smith did great, his son did great. The fact that the story is true is amazing. This is one of those "restores your faith in the American Dream" type movies, which I think we could all use these days.

Knocked Up 3 stars
I was entertained, but that's about it. Totally unbelievable as a couple. They do use the F-bomb A LOT. Like "ooh, we're R rated so free for all!" type thing. The stoner friends got a bit annoying, but there were a few moments that I really enjoyed. Like James Franco's cameo scene, and a scene in a hotel room in Vegas that struck me as really funny for some reason.

Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End 4 stars
Good ending (well, as far as we know) to the trilogy. Keira's character finally didn't annoy me in this film. The whole Calypso thing was kind of. . .meh, but the ending was good, not too sad and not too warm and fuzzy. Loved the pirate lords meeting.

I Am Legend 3 stars
I was kind of unsure what to expect. I love Will Smith, so knew this wouldn't be a BAD movie, but it wasn't as good as it could have been. The first hour, where it's just him and his dog, is great. The special effects were cool with the city, but kind of. . .sucked, with the infected. And I think those that have read the book will be totally disappointed with how they ended this version. But I gave this three stars because there were some really good moments, especially the first half.

Juno 4 stars
With all the buzz around this one, I was very interested to see it. And it was good. Ellen Page is great in it, and the supporting cast did well. Do I think it deserves "Picture of the Year"? No. Nothing against the movie at all, it WAS really good. Just not "knocked my socks off" good.

I have more, but need to take an intermission!

Juno's at the top of my list of movies to see. And I'll have to try to talk Dave into The Pursuit of Happyness - it might be a hard sell.

I am Legend - bleh. But, sci-fi type movie are not my thing.

I'm in agreement with you on Pursuit of Happyness. Great movie. I saw Juno twice. I didn't catch all the funny parts the first time around. I can't memmer the James Franco cameo scene in Knocked up so I totally want more detail on that. Hugs to you! I'll be in Austin Friday night for a concert. I have an extra ticket in case u can come with. Cobra Starship cool enough for u?
