So, today is my birthday. Well, technically not for another 4 hours. (I was born at 6:28 a.m.) I am going to be 27. (27 on 7-27-07!) The age doesn't really bother me, but I really just didn't feel like celebrating my birthday this year. My husband is in Iraq and I have a first birthday for Hannah to plan and get ready for on Monday. And since I hit the age of 18, my birthdays have been horrible days. It's almost as if I'm cursed or something.
So, I was ignoring my birthday this year. I have some Haagen Dazs coffee ice cream in the freezer than I was going to have at some point when the kids are all asleep, but that's it.
There seems to be a vast conspiracy going on though. Some of my online friends have made it their mission to mention my birthday every day this week, and even at midnight just a few hours ago "sang" me the birthday song via IM's. I have people calling me and leaving me voice mails wanting to do things. Family sending cards. Heck, people I barely know sent me cards! And the real ringer: last night coming back onto base after shopping, the guard at the gate wished me a happy birthday. I'm starting to get a little paranoid. . .
