Long rambling post ahoy!

There is no one reason for my lack of blogging the past week or so. It was a whole host of things. The past month really wiped me out.

Remember my recent doctor appointment? Well, at said appointment, that I had gone to for flu and strep type symptoms, I ended up being diagnosed with. . .drumroll please. . .a wicked bad urinary tract infection! Um, ok. Apparently I was on the verge of a kidney infection even. To fight it, my doctor prescribed a nice heavy duty antibiotic. Which I couldn't pick up at the time, because the hubby had to get to work, so I needed to get home to the kids. The prescription was sent by computer to the military pharmacy, so I couldn't just go to the nearest drugstore either. It had to be picked up at the military hospital, which was closed by the time hubby got off work again. So I thought I had to wait until the next day. The hubby decided to bust out with knight in shining armor moves though. He went up to the inpatient pharmacy at the hospital and gave them a sob story about his wife being deathly ill, and he arrived home about an hour later, with my medicine in tow.

I dutifully began taking it. For the heck of it, I decided to read up about it on google. Yeah, that's always a smart move. Apparently the drug I was on is known to cause things like nausea, itching, dizziness, and oh yeah, tendon rupture and suicide. Yay!

So yeah, I got freaked right out. I kept taking it though, even though I was paranoid that any second my Achilles tendon was going to rupture, which apparently has happened so much that there is a class action lawsuit being formed. My friends got to listen to me whine all week about being freaked out about taking the pills. I knew a kidney infection would be bad news, so I kept taking them, even as I was circling downward into a circle of paranoia. After a couple of days, my sleep started to be affected. I woke up with panic attacks every hour on the hour for two nights in a row. That, compared with the paranoia, was loads of fun. Then one morning it dawned on me. The medication was screwing with my head. See, here is copy and pasted direct from the manufacturer's website, a portion of the side effects section:

"may also cause central nervous system stimulation which may lead to tremors, restlessness, anxiety, lightheadedness, confusion, hallucinations, paranoia, depression, nightmares, insomnia, and rarely, suicidal thoughts or acts."

A HA!

I finished the medication, and after a day or so of being off of it I was fine. No more freaking out or panic attacks at night. An aside-I'm fairly certain the panic attacks were happening when I was asleep, because it was a once a day pill, and I would take it right before bed every night.

So anyways, I finally get through all of that. However, since then, I've been tired. Exhausted non-stop day and night. To "remedy" that, I am getting to get our entire house clean and us prepared for a very big out of state trip! That we leave for in about a week and a half! Hooray!

I am doing my usual preparations of freaking out about how much there is to do, and then playing Bejeweled on Facebook to try to ignore it all. We're in Code Orange right now. Where I am stressed about it all, and yell a lot at the hubby and kids about all that needs to get done, but I'm still not getting a whole lot done myself yet either. That will change when we hit Code Red, and I get into full-on panic mode. I'm sure that will be this weekend or so.

I'm excited about the trip though. We are headed up to New Jersey for a rockin' good time. No, seriously. I have a friend there we are going to go see. The bonus is that she lives pretty close to NYC. So we have decided to take the plunge and hop over there some. You know, to show the kids that it really does exist, and not just in movies. I'm nervous about going, but we have a plan set out, and we will have my local friend to help guide us in knowing where to go, and where not to go, unless we want to get mugged.

I promise to take a bajillion pictures while we are there, although I'm kind of bummed we'll be there too early to take advantage of the crown of the Statue of Liberty being re-opened.

Ok, enough rambling for one post. I'll spare you the other stuff that has been going on, like our cat having an allergic reaction to his flea medication, and all the fun that has entailed.

Back to Bejeweled.

Ah, you must have been on the same antibiotic I was when going through my kidney stone. The paperwork scared the beejezus out of me but I tried to have faith that my wonderful doctor (honestly) knows my history and wouldn't give me anything she did not trust. We made it :)

Have fun in NYC, I have always wanted to got there!
