Logic: An example of failure

You may or may not have heard the news story that has been getting lots of attention about the mother who sprayed off her kid in a car wash. For those that haven't- a mother was caught on video spraying down her 2 1/2 year old in a car wash. The mom says it was because the child was throwing a tantrum, and claims she didn't have it on full blast or anything. That she was just using it to get her attention. Well, the child was taken away and is living with her grandmother and the mom has been charged with felony child abuse.

Now, I'm not necessarily defending the mom or anything, but watch this commentary on CNN about the case: http://www.cnn.com/video/#/video/crime/2008/03/10/hostin.car.wash.cnn

Now, am I the only one that it strikes as absolutely ludicrous that the one chick says it shows premeditation because the mom had extra clothes in the car for the kid? That the fact she put her back in dry clothes afterwards showed she planned the whole thing? Seriously? SERIOUSLY?!?!?

Ok, then I guess all of us parents out there carrying around an extra set of clothes in our cars for our small children are premeditating doing the same thing. I mean, wth?

Premediated? Hmmm, I think not.

Now, call me crazy, but in the midst of a full blown tantrum in my home, the last thing I would be thinking is, "Let's see. Oh, I know! I'll just pack up the kid, take them to the nearest car wash, and hose her down right quick. Oh, but I can't forget the extra clothes. Taking all this time to make my point is one thing, but I'll be damned if she gets her car seat wet."

Now, I'm not encouraging this woman's tactics, but five months pregnant and trying to deal with a tantruming toddler? We've all been there. Although I would have taken a much more lazy route and just lock her in her room while I blogged about her atrocious behavior. =)
