The gift that keeps on giving

One of the benefits of having my oldest in public school has been that we get to experience all sorts of germs that we might not have otherwise.

A week and a half ago, Ryan fell ill. It turned into a wicked "Mongolian death flu" type virus pretty fast. He was listless, had a raging fever, and a cough that made him sound like a 75 year old chain smoker. (The listless part was actually a nice side effect.) Lindsay then succumbed last Thursday. By the time Ryan's doctor appointment rolled around Friday morning, Lindsay ended up needing it more than he did. I had to take him in because he had been out of school all week, and if you miss more than 3 days of school in a row they don't let you back in unless you have a doctor's note. Because by then a parent's word just isn't good enough any more I guess.

So Lindsay got steroids and we got through the weekend and I thought we were in the clear. Ha. Logan woke up Monday with it, and I was mysteriously really tired that day. Since then it has become clear that I have it as well. Oh yippy skippy. I now see why they are/were so listless with it. I seriously feel like I could sleep for 10 years and just be making a dent in getting as much as I need. We went to Walmart yesterday to get the Valentines for Ryan to pass out at school, and I am actually SORE today from it! I have to hobble going up and down the stairs. It's so pathetic I don't know whether to laugh or cry. So far I am not coughing, instead my brain seems to have liqufied and is trying to make a break for it through my nose. (I bet that conjured up some nice imagery for ya! You're welcome!)

And the *best* bonus of all? Due to varying factors of sleeping all day and coughing too much at night, Lindsay and Logan are completely backwards on their schedule. Completely. Backwards. Their schedule is literally go to bed around 4 a.m., get up between 12 and 2 p.m., nap around 8 p.m. How I am going to fix this I have no idea. I tried getting them up at a normal morning time, but all that resulted in was kids who whined ALL morning and ALL afternoon, napped early afternoon, fell asleep at 8 p.m., and then woke up at midnight, rip, roaring, and ready to go. Sigh.

So to all my friends out there that may have noticed (and dare I say, missed?) my lack of typing lately. That's why.

I've missed you too. I think we have the Mongolian Death Flu here too. In fact, as I type, I've been on hold for the doctor's office for 50, yes 50 minutes!! We've already been there once this week with a couple, now we have to go with a couple more.

I hope you feel better!
