Time to shut the state down!

So it's a momentous day here in the Lone Star state. It froze today. It does tend to happen here every year, believe it or not, but this is the first time I can remember it has happened this early. It is made even weirder by the fact that it was about 80 degrees last week. Today's high: 32. We actually have tiny icicles on our bush out front! Icicles! I may put a coat on later and go take pictures.

I shared one of the weather bulletins with a message board I frequent. I thought the ones from the north would get a kick out of it. It bascially stated that ice is coming, and maybe even less than an inch of snow, so we should all hoard gas and steal food. To put perspective on how "bad" this is-they even have declared it a snow day for the Army base we live on. The Army does not shut down easily either, so this must be a Big Deal.

I do understand that part if it is due to the fact that most Texans freak out if it even rains while they are driving. Add ice to that mix and you have a recipe for disaster. So the morons who do not know how to drive in bad weather should just stay home, although a lot of these people should probably save the rest of us a lot of grief, and never leave their homes.

I also love the fact that here in our great state, they do not put salt on the icy roads. They put sand. So basically then you have piles of WET SAND all over the highways! Apparently the fact that wet sand in itself is slippery to drive on doesn't matter. That, and with the coastline, we have an endless supply!

I heart Texas.
