I'm so glad it's going so well for you too!Michellehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17143018649237243937noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18883522.post-88798380751082241082009-11-10T18:32:16.943-08:002009-11-10T18:32:16.943-08:00You are doing awesome and I think the broad curric...You are doing awesome and I think the broad curriculum, including life experiences is truly the best way for children to learn. I really wish I could homeschool Jacey, but I fear not having the patience nor ability to keep up with her. Part of the industrial revolution model of schooling that should probably be tossed anyway.Jim Lhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02634460171128306060noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18883522.post-70365976697423299232009-11-10T10:01:15.072-08:002009-11-10T10:01:15.072-08:00The Mrs.-thanks for the encouragement, it is much ...The Mrs.-thanks for the encouragement, it is much needed.

Dad-Thanks for the encouragement as well. And you're right about the time thing. We're actually only required to do 4 1/2 hours of schooling for it to count as an official school day, which really made me think. It really fits our personality too, since those 4 1/2 hours don't have to be during daylight hours, or in a row.Meghannhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16940940739342340712noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18883522.post-54246779430034912002009-11-10T05:02:19.930-08:002009-11-10T05:02:19.930-08:00Trivial comment here just to subscribe to follow u...Trivial comment here just to subscribe to follow up comments 'cause I forgot. :o)Jim Lhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02634460171128306060noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18883522.post-44035498081427091642009-11-10T04:57:46.225-08:002009-11-10T04:57:46.225-08:00I concur - I couldn't do it, either. So hats off to you!

And I was thinking about all the "non-school" stuff you mentioned that happened, and I bet if you really, really added it all up, out of a typical seven hour school day at a public or parochial school, there probably isn't any more "real learning" going on, in terms of time spent with brains actually engaged, than what you're getting out of the kids at home. I mean, you have all the "stand in line," "recite from rote," "go to recess," "go to lunch," "do busywork" and so one stuff at school, and if they get two hours of actual teaching going into actual heads during a day, they probably feel lucky.

I, too, would like to hear more about it as you go.Jim Lhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02634460171128306060noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18883522.post-54438897975343921932009-11-09T19:23:43.759-08:002009-11-09T19:23:43.759-08:00Go, Meghann! I can't wait to hear more homeschooling adventures (especially those behind the scenes moments - LOL).The Mrs.https://www.blogger.com/profile/14138511085851313927noreply@blogger.com
